Steve Panzik: Director, Novice/Frosh Girls

Serves as Manhasset Crew's as Director and Head Women’s Coach. Coach Steve also led Manhasset Crew in its early years from 2002-2007 and returned 2016. He has over 25 years in the sport as a competitor and has been coaching at the junior level for 20 years. He is a former collegiate and national team rower that competed for Temple University collecting 4 Dad Vail championships and two Big East titles. He also competed in Norway at the Jr. World Championships in 1993.

As a coach he has led his teams to multiple state and national titles at the junior and club levels. He has also been instrumental in the development of youth rowers into the next level of top tier collegiate recruits and even better people. It is a program defined by accountability, responsibility, and respect. He brings an enthusiasm and passion to the sport, combined with a competitive drive to lead Manhasset Crew into the next era of high school rowing.


Chris Mare: Novice/Frosh Boys

Joined the Manhasset Crew Team in the Fall of 2009. He began his coaching in 2007, working briefly with the Novice Boys for The Crew Club of Oyster Bay as well as The Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Programs for St. Anthony's High School. During his tenure at Manhasset, he as led the team to several State Titles and National berths on the Varsity Level. He is currently the coach for the Boys Novice/Freshmen Team and oversees the Summer Learn-To-Row Program.

Coach Chris began rowing in 2002 at Hofstra University, continuing until his graduation in 2006. He received a BA degree in Film Studies and Production and double minor in Photography and Business Computer Information Systems. 


Ty Louis: Varsity Boys

Joined the Manhasset Crew Team in the Fall of 2014.  Coach Ty is a former Manhasset Crew Team Member.  As a member of the team, he helped earn two Scholastic National Championships, two New York State Championships, and one Stotesbury Cup Championship. Coach Ty rowed for the Oregon State Beavers from 2009 to 2013.

Coach Ty was a psychology major at Oregon State and has returned to Manhasset to help coach the boys team. He is also actively involved with our Winter Workout Program.


Rachel Roth: Varsity Girls

Returns to the Manhasset crew team after 3 ½ years coaching for Sagamore Rowing Association in Oyster Bay. Coach Rachel has spent the last 3 ½ years coaching juniors and adult master’s in sculling and sweep.

Rachel began rowing at The George Washington University in D.C., where she spent four years as a D1 rower, and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology, and a minor in Criminal Justice. Rachel also spent several seasons rowing for New York Athletic Club competing as a lightweight. In addition to coaching rowing, Rachel has experience coaching CrossFit and gymnastics. Coach Rachel is USRowing Level 2 certified as a rowing coach, and also has her CrossFit L1 certification. Rachel joins Manhasset crew this spring as the women’s varsity assistant. 


Tom Keegan: Varsity Boys

Joined the Manhasset Crew Team in the Fall of 2015.  Prior to joining Manhasset Crew, Coach Tom was the Assistant Coach for Friends Academy in Locust Valley, NY.  As a graduate student, he was the Assistant Coach at the State University of New York at Geneseo.  While in Western NY, he also coached Masters at the Genesee Rowing Club.   Coach Tom began his rowing career in the Fall of 2009 as a Freshman at the State University of New York at Geneseo.  He was the varsity captain his Sophomore year and President his junior year.  

 Coach Tom earned his BA is History / Adolescent Education and MSED in Literacy.  In his free time, Coach Tom enjoys staying on the water to competitively sail up and down the eastern seaboard.
